We had a great week! It was so exciting to have so many different types of weather! Four day weeks are great but we are very happy to get back to a  full 5 day week! We miss our Monday routine!

Centers: As you know, we started centers the week of February 17th,  during RTI time, 7:55 to 9:00 Monday-Thursday. We still have openings so If you would like to volunteer during this time, please email me and let me know. You can sign up to volunteer in your child's HOMEROOM CLASS or his/her RTI class.

Language Arts: We are having so much fun reading all the stories by Laura Numeroff. Thank you for sending in the ones your child had at home. We are getting really good at recognizing how she makes all of her stories circular stories and how she incorporates cause and effect! We will continue next week with more of her stories and try to write some of our own! The strategy focus is monitoring and clarifying. The comprehension skill is being able to tell the difference between reality and fantasy in a story.

Science: We are studying weather this month. We are reading lots of non fiction books about all the different kinds of weather. Have fun listening to the meteorologist on the radio and tv. Also enjoy reading about the weather in our local newspaper.

Social Studies: We will continue our unit on Famous Americans and learn how these great leaders helped to change and form our country. We will focus on  Betsey Ross next week as a great follow up to our flag presentation from our friends at the Lion's Club. They gave an amazing overview on the origin of our flag. We will end this unit with a very, very special American. (make sure and ask your child who this very, very special American is)

Math: We will review the concepts presented in Chapter 16. It focuses on subtraction and using a number line to subtract.  Remember to work the practice pages into your child's daily math homework as well as math fact practice.

Choir: We had a great time singing for our upper grade friends this week. It is fun to start a new session with Tanya and Jessica.

Homework Logs: Please complete your child's homework log daily writing down the book read and signing each day that your child has been working on math skills. This Homework Log is due each FRIDAY.

PE: Each Monday and Tuesday afternoon we have PE class so please make sure your child is wearing appropriate clothing and shoes to participate in all the activities.

Library: A reminder that each Friday we go to Rio's library so please help your child remember to return his/her book to class by Thursday.
