 Welcome to a new week and the last week of January! It is good to be getting back to class!


 Language Arts: This week we will be reading a non fiction story about a Red Eyed Tree Frog. This story focuses us on predicting and inferring. Please enjoy reading non fiction books at home this week and working on the same strategy focus. 

Social Studies: We will continue our unit on Famous Americans and learn how these great leaders helped to change and form our country. We will focus on Ruby Bridges this week  and end with a very, very special American. (make sure and ask your child who this very, very special American is)

Math: We will start Chapter 14 that focuses on greater than, less than, ten more, ten less, one more, one less. Remember to work the practice pages into your child's daily math homework as well as math fact practice.

Choir: Weekly choir practice continues and I wanted to let you know that on February 13th we will be performing. Location and time TBA.

Homework Logs: Please complete your child's homework log daily writing down the book read and signing each day that your child has been working on math skills. This Homework Log is due each FRIDAY.

PE: Each Monday and Tuesday afternoon we have PE class so please make sure your child is wearing appropriate clothing and shoes to participate in all the activities.

Library: A reminder that each Friday we go to Rio's library so please help your child remember to return his/her book to class by Thursday.

Welcome to a short week. I hope you all enjoyed a long weekend with our wonderful weather. I miss you all so much and am so happy to report that the doctor is releasing me to return back to work Monday. I will return wearing a protective boot on my right leg and walking with crutches but will be there with bells on!

Language Arts: This week we will be reading Eek! There's a Mouse the House.  It is a fun story about a mouse and many other animals that get stuck together in a house. One thing leads to another. We will work to note the various details in this story and all the other stories that we read during the week.

Social Studies: We will continue our unit on Famous Americans and learn how these great leaders helped to change and form our country. We will continue with Martin Luther King Jr. and end with a very, very special American. (make sure and ask your child who this very, very special American is)

Math: We will be continue our work with place value and will start Chapter 13 on skip counting. 

Choir: We are exciting to get back our weekly choir practice and I wanted to let you know that on January 30th we will be performing. Location and time TBA.

Welcome back and happy 2013! I spent the vacation being well taken care of by my family and friends and am on the road to a speedy recovery!

Language Arts: This week we will be reading Sleeping Pig. It is a fun story about a pig that won't wake up! Our strategy focus is summering stories and our comprehension focus will be story structure. Use both of these strategies when enjoying books at home with you child this week.

Social Studies: We will start out unit on Famous Americans and learn how these great leaders helped to change and form our country. We will start with Martin Luther King Jr. and end with a very, very special American. (make sure and ask your child who this very, very special American is)

Math: We will be learning about place value in Chapter 12 so please complete the at home pages from Chapter 12. This chapter also focuses on counting by 10's, one more, one less, ten more, ten less, writing numbers 1 to 100 and estimating.

Choir: We are exciting to get back our weekly choir practice and I wanted to let you know that on January 30th we will be performing. Location and time TBA.
