Our field trip to AHS was fun and the students learned a lot about what they have to look forward to when they reach high school! It isn't that far off!

NEEDS: AA batteries, tissue boxes, decks of playing cards and a Dominoe Game,

Language Arts: This week's story is called Johnny Appleseed and is a non fiction story about the life of John Chapman.   This story gives us the opportunity to learn about predicting, inferring and drawing conclusions. Please practice these stategies at home too.

Science: We are continue our weather study this month. We are reading lots of non fiction books about all the different kinds of weather. Have fun listening to the meteorologist on the radio and tv. Also enjoy reading about the weather in our local newspaper.

Math: We will review the concepts presented in Chapter 21 which focuses on the value of coins. Great opportunity to empty your coin jars and purses at home to practice adding coins.

Choir: We are enjoying our second session with our choir teachers and will let you know when we have a date for our upcoming upcoming performance.

Homework Logs: Please complete your child's homework log daily writing down the book read and signing each day that your child has been working on math skills. This Homework Log is due each FRIDAY.

PE: Each Monday and Tuesday afternoon we have PE class so please make sure your child is wearing appropriate clothing and shoes to participate in all the activities

 Happy March! We are enjoying reading about St. Patrick's Day and are very excited to make our own leprechaun traps. We are hoping that maybe this will be the year we really CATCH ONE! Please help your child remember to bring his/her trap on Friday, March 15th. We will set them as we leave Friday in hopes of catching one of those wee little men!

Special Visitor: Author Matthew Beasley came to talk to us about writing books and shared his book, "Birds of a Different Feather". He was engaging and informative. Check him out at http://www.matthewbeasleywrites.com/  

Centers: As you know, we started centers the week of February 17th,  during RTI time, 7:55 to 9:00 Monday-Thursday. Science: We are continue our weather study this month. We are reading lots of non fiction books about all the different kinds of weather. Have fun listening to the meteorologist on the radio and tv. Also enjoy reading about the weather in our local newspaper.

Math: We will review the concepts presented in Chapter 18 which focuses on subtraction strategies, subtracting doubles, doubles minus one and subtracting from 20.

Choir: We are enjoying our second session with our choir teachers and will let you know when we have a date for our upcoming upcoming performance.

Language Arts: This week's story is called The Forest and is a non fiction story about a class field trip to a forest. This story gives us the opportunity to learn about root words and their endings along with practicing summarizing.

Science: We are continue our weather study this month. We are reading lots of non fiction books about all the different kinds of weather. Have fun listening to the meteorologist on the radio and tv. Also enjoy reading about the weather in our local newspaper.

Social Studies: We finished our unit on Famous Americans and learned how these great leaders helped to change and form our country. We put all of our writing into a book called Famous Americans and took it home. Enjoy hearing your child read his/her writing to you. Wait until you see who the last famous American is in the book!

Math: We will review the concepts presented in Chapter 17 which focuses on addition strategies, adding doubles, doubles plus one and adding on from 10.

Choir: We are looking forward to our second session with our choir teachers and will let you know when we do about the upcoming performance.
