Thanks to all of you who supported your child in our school's jog a thon. It is a great school event that is always a hit!

Language Arts: For the next two weeks, the students in the upper grades are doing state testing so we will not be having RTI classes. We will not be reading any new stories from Houghton Mifflin for the next two weeks and instead will use other reading sources to continue work with grammar, phonics and other language arts skills.

Science: We are continuing our habitat unit by exploring the ocean. We will read many non fiction books about habitats and your child will use expository writing at the end of each week to write about what they learned about each habitat. We will enjoy a directed drawing lesson with the first graders in Room 7.

Math: We will continue work learning the concepts presented in Chapter 23 which focuses on sums to 30 and adding a 2-digit number and a 1-digit number. Please continue helping you child with telling time to the hour and half hour as telling time seems to be a difficult concept to grasp.

Choir: We are enjoying our second session with our choir teachers and our performance will be the evening of May 23rd. When I know more details, I will pass them along.

Homework Logs:  Please complete your child's homework log daily writing down the book read and signing each day that your child has been working on math skills. This Homework Log is due each FRIDAY. Many students are coming to school each Friday and Monday without his/her Homework Log so more help in this area is needed.

PE: Each Monday and Tuesday afternoon we have PE class so please make sure your child is wearing appropriate clothing and shoes to participate in all the activities
