Welcome back to school. I hope you had a wonderful vacation and are ready the
third trimester. 44 days left of first grade! Crazy how fast this year went!
Language Arts: We are reading a charming story called When I Am Old With You. The strategy focus is monitoring and clarifying while the comprehension strategy is noting details. Please work with these strategies as you enjoy reading with your child nightly.

Science:We are starting our habitat unit by exploring the desert. We will read many non fiction books about habitats and your child will use expository writing at the end of each week to write about what they learned about each habitat.
Math: We will review the concepts presented in Chapter 19 which focuses on inverse operations, fact families. The kids love working with fact families because we talk about not letting any "strangers into the family!"
Choir: We are enjoying our second session with our choir teachers and will let you know when we have a date for our upcoming upcoming performance.
Homework Logs: Please complete your child's homework log daily writing down the book read and signing each day that your child has been working on math skills. This Homework Log is due each FRIDAY.
PE: Each Monday and Tuesday afternoon we have PE class so please make sure your child is wearing appropriate clothing and shoes to participate in all the activities
